Description

Zaroxolyn (Metolazone) is a "water pill" (diuretic) that increases the amount of urine you make, which causes your body to get rid of excess water. This medication also reduces swelling/fluid retention (edema) which can result from conditions such as heart failure or kidney disease. This can help to improve symptoms such as trouble breathing.

Uses

Treating edema (fluid retention) associated with congestive heart failure (CHF)

In mild heart failure, metolazone or another diuretic may be used alone, or combined with other diuretics for moderate or severe heart failure

Metolazone may also be used in kidney disease, such as chronic kidney disease or the nephrotic syndrome

Treating hypertension (high blood pressure)
